Haggard’s unabashedly rugged sound is infectious. When the boys get together, they may not know what they’re about to do, but whatever it is, causes unified clapping, whooping and foot-stomping.
The band was founded in the heat of the summer of 2004 (ah the good ole days) on the cool back porch on 1st Avenue in Franklin, the heart of the Middle Tennessee valley. Since then, there’s been no stopping them, even when people tried.
The band is comprised of many but like any bad apple, there’s a core--Easy Haggard (guitar/vocals), Doc Haggard (percussion/vocals), Burly Haggard (percussion), Early Haggard (noisemakers/vocals) Josh Haggard (bass) and Eke Haggard (harmonica/uke/vocals).
Haggard describes their songs as “original covers,” because “you’ll never hear the same song done the same way twice,” says Easy.
The band can cover just about any song—favorites include: “Roadhouse Blues,” “Superfreak,” “Another Brick in the Wall,” “Hurt” and “VooDoo Lady,” though it may take a few verses before even they remember what they’re playing.
Their originals are uncontested, outpouring of emotions and discombobulated scattered discourse. Titles include: “I’ve Always Been Crazy,” “Nobody’s A Hero,” “Stoneder,” “Go,” “I’m Haggard” and “Cold Beer” to name a few.
