As One

By Sonny Go

The human being is said to be the most complete creature in existence. How is it so, while we have our own deficiencies?
Different people have their own theories regarding the aspects of a human being. But, if someone were to ask if the mind and heart are seperate or one, most would answer that they're two different things. I've seen it happen too often as I asked different people about it to gain insight upon the subject. You see, I had my own theories. I felt different when it came to this sort of topic. Either my theories be seen as a fresh point of view or as a heresy, it's up to you.
Here is the way I see it.
A human being has 4 layers of existence. From outermost to innermost, they are the body, mind, heart and soul. These human layers, as I call them, are physically seperate, and yet, they can become one. To make them become one and whole, one must become a "complete" human being.
Being "complete" isn't becoming perfect. That's not the concept of it. Being so is to have all these layers become strong, balanced and in perfect harmony. If you have seen people who are masters of their own craft, they are the ones who are the closest to becoming this "complete". A good example is a martial arts expert. His body is undeniably powerful, his mind is focused, his heart is set and his soul is in control, and they are all in perfect harmony. If they are not in coordination, such a person cannot become a master of his craft, for he doesn't have harmony within himself.
Each layer is important to the person as well as to each other. The body is the manifestation of the person. The mind thinks, remembers and rationalizes. The heart gives the person emotion and makes him who he's supposed to be, which is a human being. The soul gives everything life. Without one component, a person is said to be either dead or broken. If you really think about it, each is meant for one another. Either of them can't exist without the others. They can't stand alone.
As each is a component of one's self, they can also become one. How it is so is how you view yourself as a person. Are you in harmony or in disarray? As how the stars become one with the night sky, so can each layer become one. It's all up to the person to decide if he wants it so or not. Only if you're at peace with yourself can you give peace to others as well.
That is how I see it. May it serve as insight for those who ponder upon this subject. That is all and nothing else.
Breathe in life, understand thyself and let them exist as one.
