Whether theyre
straight out of the kitchen or have been sitting under a heat lamp for
a minute, here is a sample of releases Ribbers decided to taste. Like
other zines, we have rated them, but with our own complicated culinary
system from one rib (lowest) to five ribs (bestest).
Part 2: Live From the Breadline. 3 ribs-Gnaws
on your nerves a bit.
Contrary to the title, this is not a live disc. Ranging from smooth
("One of Them Days") and old-school ("Stay Real")
grooves to jungley drum 'n' bass ("Chasin'," "Take Ur
Time") and hard house ("Concrete Jungle"), this renowned
spraycan artist fairly well encapsulates the last 20 years of British
Black Music. (U.K. labelScore)David Thornton
The Prodigy Their Law-The Singles 1990-2005 (XL Recordings).
4 ribs-strange meat.
The Prodigy carved their own sound in the ‘90s, creating a techno-punkrock
hybrid, with their inexhaustible, edgy and many times controversial
spitfire. Their Law features all The Prodigy’s Top 20 singles,
plus new previously unreleased tracks—“Razor,” “Back
2 Skool,” “Voodoo Beats” and a remix of “Under
My Wheels.” Since their beginning in 1990 The Prodigy have released
four albums and numerous singles. This double disc set also includes
a 50 page booklet with photographs covering Prodigy’s career.
Each track on this compilation epitomize the high energy emitted when
the group take the stage, where not even the security can keep their
feet from steppin’. Will Jordan
